Section 19 of The Ajmer Tenancy and Land Records Act, 1950
Exproprietary tenants.
Every person who--
- (a)is, at the commencement of this Act, an exproprietary tenant in accordance with the provisions of the Ajmere Land and Revenue Regulation, 1877 (2 of 1877), or
- (b)acquires exproprietary rights in accordance with the provisions of this Act, shall be called an exproprietary tenant.
Summary
- Exproprietary tenants are a specific class of farmers who held this status under older laws or gained it under this Act.
- The status applies to those who were already exproprietary tenants under the Ajmer Land and Revenue Regulation of 1877.
- It also applies to anyone who acquires these specific rights based on the provisions of the 1950 Act.
- This usually happens when a landlord loses their ownership but continues to farm the land they previously owned.
