power to review from time to time the policies of the University and to suggest measures for the improvement and development of the University and to consider and pass resolutions on the annual accounts and audit reports of the University.

1. (2)Save as otherwise expressly provided in this Act the Senate shall have the powers ,-
   1. (i)to institute and confer degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions;
   2. (ii)to confer, on the recommendation of the Syndicate, honorary degrees or other academic distinctions;
   3. (iii)to make, amend or repeal Statutes;
   4. (iv)to consider the financial estimates prepared by the Syndicate and pass resolutions thereon;
   5. (v)to confer on the recommendation of the Syndicate the title of Professor of Meritus;
   6. (vi)to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred by the Statutes, Ordinances and Rules.
